Job Context:

The Sr. Manager, Product Development (Kidswear) will be responsible for leading and managing the product development process for the kids wear lines, from ideation to production. He will collaborate with the design, merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to ensure that products are developed and manufactured to the highest quality standards meeting the growth targets. The role requires an in-depth understanding of kids wear product design, development, manufacturing, and production processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the product development process from concept to production, collaborating with design, merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to ensure that products are developed and manufactured to the highest quality standards.
  • Conduct market research and analyze trends to identify opportunities for new product development and improvements to existing products that align with brand positioning and customer preferences.
  • Develop and execute product development strategies and timelines that meet standard and growth targets.
  • Ensure that all products meet quality requirements, as well as BYSL Global’s policies and procedures, while also promoting a culture of ethical and sustainable practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment throughout the product development process, including design, merchandising, sourcing, and production.
  • Manage budgets for the product development process, ensuring that spending is aligned with sales targets and financial goals while also optimizing the use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Manage and mentor a team of product developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow professionally and achieve their goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure that products are manufactured on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Take ownership of the product development lifecycle from design and development to feedback and revisions to product tech specification and pre-production sampling.
  • Manage and complete all required documentation, filing work, and system data entry accurately and efficiently.
  • Fully understand the garment-manufacturing process to ensure compliance with all lead times
  • Monitor market trends, latest innovations, and market dynamics
  • Be able to meet deadlines and work timelines within a budget framework

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of fabric development, textile techniques, and production processes.
  • Familiarity with different types of materials, such as natural and synthetic fibers, and their properties
  • Extensive knowledge of apparel product design and development
  • Ingenious capacity to generate new ideas and concepts
  • Good sense of product quality, creativity, innovation, assembling, and washing
  • Good enough knowledge about garment construction and pattern
  • Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite and CAD
  • Demonstrated high-level product design skills, technical design, sketching, creative application
  • Experience in developing and implementing product development plans, from concept to production
  • Knowledge of global sourcing and supply chain management, including experience in sourcing materials and production in different regions
  • Understanding of the kids wear market, including consumer preferences, trends, and competition
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to ensure quality standards are met
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a team of product developers
  • Knowledge of legal, safety, and regulatory requirements related to kids wear products
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize and draw conclusions on large amounts of data
  • Familiarity with ethical and sustainable practices in the apparel industry
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders

Additional Requirements:

  • Be able to work on deadlines and manage multiple projects at once
  • Empowers others by sharing information and context around strategic direction and the decision-making process.
  • Must have good knowledge of varieties of fabric and accessories.
  • Must have good knowledge of various types of print, embroidery, and other garment technology.
  • Should have proficiency in English
  • Ability to work under pressure and should conduct the team as a supportive leader
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 7+ years in the relevant area

Educational Requirements:

  • BA (Hons) / B.Sc (Hons) in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing or Textile Engineering
